    This message is for Zach:
Hi–I did a search for SCUBA non-profits and found you on Idealist. I’ve been interested in starting a non-profit for fosters kids to learn to dive. I’d love to know more about your venture and possibly collaborate. I’m from Florida–so I’m a good diving contact too! (I’m currently in Cameroon in the Peace Corps–there’s killer potential for diving here but no market yet. I’m doing non-profit development and have a natural interest in eco-tourism here too.)
Gonna friend the organization on FB now. Hope to be in contact soon.
My brother also lives in Brooklyn.

Anything like this in NC? We live in the Lake Norman area and I teach at an urban school. Many of my students have never even seen the lake.

    Hi Cindy,

I am not aware of anything like this in NC, but it sounds like it would work well! Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help!

      Hi Warren,

Thank you so much for your message. We really wouldn’t be where we are now without the support of people like you.

We’re a new organization (started programming in January 2011), and our work with students is currently confined to NYC. There are a few ways that people generally get involved if they are outside of this area:

      – Volunteer specific skills – Do you know a trade that might be helpful and want to donate your time? I.e. web development, event planning, etc. Let us know what you do!

      – Spread the word – We’d like everyone to know about the work we do. Spreading the word is more important than you might think, and simply sharing our mission with your network is a big help! Do you Facebook, Twitter, Blog, etc.? Give us a shout-out!

      – Donate money – As a nonprofit, our organization relies on the financial support of others in order to continue operating. If you can spare a little change, we’ll put it to good use! (To donate, please click the “Donate!” tab on the home page.)

      – Come up with their own contribution plan! – How would you like to get involved!? Tell us what you’d like to do, and we’ll try and make it work out. We’re always open to hearing creative ways that people like to contribute.

Shoot me an email at and we’ll figure it out!

Thanks, Warren! Looking forward to speaking with you.
